In early September 2024 my wife and I decided to visit again Monterey, California. It was a long weekend for us. We have booked a hotel at the famed Cannery Row and did some usual touristy things. Most of all we reunited ourselves with the Pacific Ocean a place I used to dive quite a bit in the past. My wife likes to visit open homes in the area we visit so we checked out a couple of these too. After a day of seeing homes we decided to go downtown and get a coffee and maybe a late lunch. While walking along we stumbled on a Music Store. In the window there was a “whale blue” PRS Core…Custom 22 made in the year 2000.
I had to see it. I touched the instrument and fell in love with it. Vivian my wife burst laughing seeing my face. I played a couple of chords. The store owner gave us a price and said it could be negotiable.
After a several minutes we walked out of the store…then we stopped and pondered…then returned to the store and begun negotiating the price. You see the instrument was hardly played always in a case in was from a year 2000. A gem The selector switch was same knob as volume and tone knobs…rare guitar. It was a 10 top maple. dark blue-whale blue? We bought it or I should say my wife got it for me as an early Birthday gift. We got a great deal too.
When we returned home I plugged it into the amp and the magic happened. So I wrote a Monterey Blues on that guitar. It is my biggest and finest musical possession. I love playing on that instrument. I would say this is my flagship for writing songs and recording. The sound is awesome.
Thank you PRS for making such a wonderful instrument!
