All art whether songs, paintings, sculptures, architecture, poems, novels, drama, movies have been created through millennia by Inspiration. Art is created by talented people who respond to their Inspirations, which in turn are based on something that moved/touched them. This Inspiration is a representation and interpretation of these moments in life through the artist’s feelings to result in a work of art. Variety of stimuli create an inspiration. The inspiration is what drives creativity and in our world, in particular, it means to create wonderful songs.
But you may ask, what the inspiration is really all about and how does it happen or why does it happen? Or can I be inspired? The quick answer is: Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes!!!
Inspiration for any art takes place when our lives are touched in some way. Sometimes profound sometimes not so. Profound can be very positive and happy or dreadful, unhappy.
More often sad situations or circumstances inspire works of art. Why is that? Maybe because at a sad moment in life our senses become very sensitive, needing some type of soothing, a resolution or help to feel better, happier, to smile again…the art is about feelings.
As humans, we are the only ones in the Earth EcoSystem, who create art that is driven by our feelings and this art evokes feelings in turn. No other being on Earth is able to do such a thing…the Art. That is really special and cool.
Like any art form, artistic expression, songwriting is part of the artistic family. A song can be just music or music and lyrics. When it is music and lyrics, it combines two forms of art that complement each other. A perfect marriage. Music emphasizes and expresses feelings that reside in the Lyrics, which were inspired by a moment in life, happy or sad. The lyrics in a way reflect experiences we had or someone in our orbit had at some point of the life journey. Everyone gets inspired by many things, so always reflect on these experiences. Someone special in my life once said that: “Everybody’s life is a script for a movie.” There is a lot of wisdom in that statement.
